Meaning of “śrīguru caran saroj raj nij manu mukuru sudhāri”

"śrīguru caran saroj raj nij manu mukuru sudhāri" is Doha 1 of the Hanuman Chalisa, which Tulsidas wrote in Awadhi. It means: With the dust of my guru's lotus feet I polish the mirror of my mind. Then I sing the spotless glory of Rama, best of the Raghus, which gives all four fruits of life: dharma, wealth, fulfilment and freedom.

श्रीगुरु चरन सरोज रज निज मनु मुकुरु सुधारि ।बरनउँ रघुबर बिमल जसु जो दायकु फल चारि ॥śrīguru caran saroj raj nij manu mukuru sudhāribaranauṁ raghubar bimal jasu jo dāyaku phal cāri

With the dust of my guru's lotus feet I polish the mirror of my mind. Then I sing the spotless glory of Rama, best of the Raghus, which gives all four fruits of life: dharma, wealth, fulfilment and freedom.

Where this happens in the Ramayana

Tulsidas opens the Ayodhya Kand of his Ramcharitmanas with this same couplet, word for word, as the story turns to the plan to crown Rama.

श्री गुरु चरन सरोज रज निज मनु मुकुरु सुधारि। बरनउँ रघुबर बिमल जसु जो दायकु फल चारि॥
