Hanuman Chalisa, Chaupai 7

Meaning of “bidyāvān gunī ati cātur”

"bidyāvān gunī ati cātur" is Chaupai 7 of the Hanuman Chalisa, which Tulsidas wrote in Awadhi. It means: Learned, full of virtue and very wise, you are always eager to do Rama's work. Over the ocean, the mountain Mainaka rises and offers him rest. Hanuman touches it, bows, and says there is no rest for him until Rama's work is done.

बिद्यावान गुनी अति चातुर ।राम काज करिबे को आतुर ॥bidyāvān gunī ati cāturrām kāj karibe ko ātur

Learned, full of virtue and very wise, you are always eager to do Rama's work.
